LAN Installations was the successful tenderer to complete RF installation of Australia’s first trial of mobile telephone jamming technology by correctional services to prevent inmates from using mobile phones at Lithgow Correctional Centre in New South Wales. The project trials the use of a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to jam mobile devices within the centre, with the authority of the Australian Communications Media Authority (ACMA) and in cooperation with mobile phone carriers. LAN was able to complete the DAS build in advance of Corrective Services NSW milestones. The system was officially switched on by former Minister for Justice Greg Smith SC MP and Corrective Services NSW Commissioner Peter Severin at an official media launch.
